Dynamic Compressors

This course will provide the trainee with the knowledge necessary to understand and enhance their mechanical aptitude in the area of Compressors

The purpose of this course is to develop a working knowledge of various types of rotating and reciprocating equipment as well as the different procedures and regulations associated with operation and installation of this equipment. With the completion of this course the participants are equipped with the basic knowledge required to install and repair dynamic compressors and their related systems.

Technicians are required to have good understanding regarding compressors as well as the related systems and applications.  The technicians that participate in this training will be better equipped to repair and maintain as well as install and commission dynamic compressors and the associated systems within their responsibilities.  This training increases the knowledge of the technician therefore within the maintenance team, thereby increasing the safe and efficient productivity of the mechanical systems.  With further on-job training and experience the technician will be able to attend more advanced training in this area therefore enhancing the maintenance team’s capabilities and knowledge.

  • Agenda
  • Audience
  • Technical Information

The following Topics will be covered allowing the Technicians a much stronger understanding of the Operation and Maintenance of Machinery and Equipment in the Petroleum Industry
The course will begin with a review of the course outline as well as and required activities scheduled for the day.

Day 1 - Identification

  • Identify the different types of dynamic compressors used in the Gas and Petroleum Industry
    • Centrifugal
    • Axial
  • Identify Components and Construction
    • Define terminology associated with dynamic compressors.
    • Identify hazards and describe safe work practices associated with dynamic compressors.
    • Identify components and describe their applications and operation.

Day 2 – Maintenance and Diagnostics

  • Describe the procedures used to repair reciprocating Compressors.
  • Describe the procedures used to troubleshoot dynamic compressors.
  • Identify considerations for determining if dynamic compressors repair or replacement is required.
  • Procedures used to remove, install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and commission dynamic compressors.

The specifications and installation requirements of dynamic compressors and their use in the Gas and Petroleum Industry are based on the knowledge gained during the Dynamic Pump Theories so it is important that the trainee has completed the Dynamic Pump Theory Course before attending this training course.

For the technician to properly maintain, troubleshoot, install and provide correct operation they must have good working knowledge of compressors prior to this course so they can relate the operation to the different types.

This course is mainly targeted to Mechanical Technicians in Oil and Gas industry working in the field as an introduction or refresher.

The course can also be applicable to employees working with equipment purchasing, procurement, storage, and job planning as well as immediate supervisors to the working technicians.
